Shine Stories
REAL STORIES. REAL PEOPLE
When I lost my first son, I was devastated and so mad at God. I couldn’t pray or read His Word, but I listened to Shine every day and continue to. That was pretty much my lifeline. After a period of time, I was able finally to pray, then started reading His Word again. The verse that kept coming to me was John 6:68, ” Simon Peter answered Him, ‘ Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life.'” I realized that I had nowhere to go but to Him, no matter how mad I was at Him. Little did I know I would also lose my oldest son; it was not even two years after I lost the first. Then, I heard the song “ Desert Road” by Casting Crowns on Shine. This is definitely not the path I would have chosen, but I follow Him to the end. He is the only answer. I don’ t know where it’ s going, but I know Who holds my hand. Now just believing God, I can recover and walk in this new normal and help those who are struggling, in honor of my boys. These are real stories, real people, and I am one of them. |

My shine moment came after my 1st husband past away a decade ago. I was introduced to shine from a gentleman I met for lunch. He spoke about shine fm and how much he liked it. I listened to it and have since. The song Tell your heart to be again from Danny Gokey was the sign I needed that it was time to move on. Read more

I've been blessed to have many Shine moments but I am incredibly fond of the BEST one. Sure, I found Shine.FM after surviving a life-threatening infection in the hospital, when I was looking for more good input, and most songs reminded me about ALL the reasons I had to praise God for all my blessings. But it was ""Yes He Can"" by Cain, coming on the radio while driving in the car, singing the questions to my grandson and his sweet little voice singing the answer ""YES HE CAN!!!"" back to me. It was the start of a beautiful story that's just getting started. Thank you for doing what you do, Shine.FM – God bless you!||Grateful listener,|Lori Read more

I was going thru a really bad time in my life back in 2013, I found myself on drugs and homeless and at the same time I found out my mother had stage 4 cancer and they were doing experimental procedures on her to try to save her life. I was flipping thru radio stations trying to get one to come in on a radio in a hotel I was in at the time, finally I got a station to come in, it was 88.5 and the song ""Redeemed"" by big daddy weave came on.. it changed my whole life!!! I was able to get off drugs and move in with my mother and father and take care of my mother for the last six months of her life. And now I listen to shine everyday and go to all the concerts when I get extra money.. especially Big Daddy Weave! I have since been baptized and live in a beautiful home and drug free and I praise The Good Lord everyday for everything I have. Thanks Shine for being there for us.. and Thank You Big Daddy Weave for your continued songs of praise and redemption. Read more

Hi! There is a homeless man who lives in my neighborhood. I would see him occasionally and stop and chat or buy him some food or something to drink. He is very unkept and clearly is severely mentally ill. Last January there was a particularly cold snap with the wind chill down to -23. The second day I saw him I ran out of my house to check on him. His one foot was severely frost bitten and had turned black. I drove him to the ER and that began two months of talking with doctors, social workers, police, lawyers and eventually the system failed him and he is back on the streets. He has no family and is all alone. I had tried everything possible to make his life better and failed. One day I was driving in the car and crying and praying and Katy Nichole's song, In Jesus Name came on. It fit the situation so perfectly; ""I pray for your healing, circumstances would change, I pray miracles over your life in Jesus name"". I have peace now that God sees him and He is the only one to change the situation. I see Paul regularly and bring him dinner, birthday cakes and Mt Dew. I know only God can change that and I'm trusting He will somehow Read more

God has a plan for everything. He knows when you need something encouraging and shine.fm is that way of getting the encouragement when you need it. The songs that play echo Gods voice and what He is wanting you to know, remember, or understand at a certain moment in time. God knows what you need when you need it even if its just a song to encourage you or help you grow. Read more

My 20 year old grandson took his life 9 days ago, and my Shine.fm has been such a peace resource since that day. He suffered with ADHD, depression since the age of 14. He nearly died a year ago from a dirt bike accident that left him with brain trauma, bleeding, and concussion. This compounded his mental health condition. Sadly he succumbed to these conditions 9 days ago. |I am at comfort knowing he gave his heart to Jesus at a young age, even though he didn't continue the walk. Recently he had been going to church off and on, but hadn't found one that he was happy with.|A couple songs that seem to come on Shine that has comforted my heart continously just at the right time, over and over are……|God is with us, by the Afters|Don't lose Hope, by Curtis Chapman,|and……|Faithfully, by Toby Mac|These three songs have been the ones with the message I continually hold onto to keep me going.|I feel we may walk away from God, but He never stops holding on to us. I strongly believe God knew my boys struggles, and the pain he's had to endure physically and mentally all his life, Therefore, our God is a merciful God, and I expect to see my boy again very soon!!|Thank you for my Shine.FM station for so many years! You're such a blessing to me!!!|Dawn Gilliam Read more

Saturday morning, July 27, I get in my car and I'm headed to the gym to work out. I've had some difficult moments lately involving friends who have either passed on or are dealing with serious health issues. And as I'm driving to the gym, I hear Lauren Daigle singing, Be OK, ""it's going to be OK."" I had never heard this song before and as she began to sing, ""it's all right"" her words spoke even more directly to my heart. So thankful for Shine.FM and the team of wonderful disciples that work there. God bless all of you and thank you, Shine.FM . Read more

3 years ago today July 16th 2021. I lost my wife towered the end of the pandemic. Although even today her death is unclear to me and her family, the one thing I am grateful for is that I never got mad at God.|My Shine moment is what drew me closer to Christian music. A couple of days after her death I was on my way to plan her funeral when I turned on the radio came across Shine FM and heard the song Scars in Heaven by Casting Crowns for the first time. It brought me to tears I almost had to pull the car over. Last year I got to see them perform live at Olivet University, and Yes they perform that song. Not only did it leave me to tears It led me to two more concerts of faith. Hopefully more to come. The joy the music gives me No words can explain. Thank you Shine for showing me Peace in God through music and faith.|. Read more
