Ordinary Moments Extraordinary Things
Shine.FM’s Business Underwriting Team was prospecting businesses for new underwriting partners when one call led to an unexpected opportunity. The call was placed to a local insurance agency, and like many prospecting conversations, the expectation was to discuss sponsorship opportunities. This conversation, however, took a very different direction.
Victoria, the owner, shared something that had been on her heart. She was organizing a community giveaway contest to bless a widow in need and was seeking local businesses including HVAC contractors, plumbers, roofers, landscapers, and others to donate services for someone facing financial hardship. The challenge wasn’t finding generous businesses; it was finding a way to let the community know about the opportunity. The Shine.FM Business Underwriting Team worked with her to create on-air announcements to encourage listeners to nominate a widow in need, and what began as a cold sales call quickly became a partnership centered on serving the community.
A few weeks later, the underwriting team followed up with Victoria, who felt compelled to share what had happened because of the contest, which received only one nomination. What seemed disappointing at first became a blessing. The only nomination was exactly the person who needed help. Every participating business contributed time, skills, or services to meet the needs of a widow who could not have addressed them on her own.
The widow shared with Victoria that she had been praying fervently for God to provide for her needs. Then, out of nowhere, this opportunity appeared. It’s a beautiful reminder that ministry happens through everyday faithfulness. Through the generosity of complete strangers working together, God wove together ordinary circumstances to answer prayers in an extraordinary way.
