Mother’s Day Contest 2026

There’s a moment, or maybe more, when Mom or a mom figure in your life shared with you truths about God. This Mother’s Day, share with us “Moments My Mom Taught Me About God.” We will share them on the air and here on our website the week preceding Mother’s Day as we celebrate the beautiful role that moms and mom figures have in raising us up to follow Christ.

Have a moment to share? We’ll even send you a special Shine mom sticker when you leave a voicemail at 1-800-HI-SHINE, or email us at funandgames@shine.fm with your “moment mom taught me about God.”

Please, only one entry per person, as we will only send you one sticker. In your voicemail or email, please share your address with us so we can mail your sticker to you.

Moments My Mom Taught Me About God:
My mom has always been active in church my entire life. From the time I was little and she brought AWANA to our church and became the AWANA director all the way until now (and I’m 34!). My mom became the children’s director of our church when I was in middle school. Through her actions, she showed me her love for God. She has dedicated her life to helping others and teaching littles. She organized AWANA, VBS (Vacation Bible School), outings, small groups for teachers, and so much more. Her passion to see other people grow in their knowledge and love for God is incredible. Even after she retired from her children’s director position and moved out to Indiana to help with watching my 2 littles while I worked, she was still dedicated to teaching littles. She watched my babies from birth until they started PreK. In that time she taught them Bible verses and Bible songs that I learned as a child. It is so amazing to see her love on my kiddos and teach them about God. My mom is incredible and has shown her love for God in a BIG way. “Well done, good and faithful servant.” Matthew 25:23 -Alyson D.

My mom is so good at pointing us to Jesus and His word. One example is a moment where I was struggling with worry about something, and Mom asked me, “Do you believe the Bible is true?” I said, “yes,” and she replied, “Then you have to believe the whole Bible is true, and that you have peace in God.” It was a reminder for me that if I believe in God’s Word, I need to believe in all of His word, and that what He has promised to me is mine. I can be at peace, because Jesus gives me His peace. Thank you, Mom, for always sharing with us the wisdom you’re learning from God! -Megan, Shine.FM

My mother was a farmer’s wife and I consistently observed her trust in God. It was just a part of her daily life. However, one specific morning that sticks out to me was when my mother was with me as I took my newborn baby girl to her first doctor appointment. While in the waiting room, we watched on the TV, the horrific terrorist attack on the US – it was the morning of 9/11. Obviously, I was in shock & scared at what kind of world my daughter would have to face as she grew up. I voiced those fears with my mom and she responded simply, “Honey, you know that these events did not catch God by surprise and it’s no mistake that He gave you this baby when He did either. You just need to trust Him.” My mom is now in Heaven with Jesus, but these precious words of encouragement still help calm me today during fearful moments. Thank you Mom!” – Ellyn, Shine.FM

When I think about my mom and her faith, I don’t just remember what she said—I remember how she lived. My mom showed me what it looks like to love and serve your family with your whole heart. She was there for everything… every game, every school event, every little moment that mattered. She was the mom who showed up early, stayed late, helped with plays, field trips, and classroom parties—always giving, always present. And through all of that, she was quietly teaching me about God. The verse that always brings me back to her is 1 Peter 4:10–11… “As each has received a gift, use it to serve one another, as good stewards of God’s varied grace.” That’s exactly how she lived. She saw the gifts God placed inside each of us, called them out, and gently reminded us those gifts weren’t for our own glory—but for Him. Because of her, I learned that serving others is one of the most beautiful ways we reflect God’s love. – Steph, Shine.FM
