Jackie grew up surrounded by abuse and drugs, and by 15, she was on her own, learning how to survive in a world that offered little safety. For years, she stayed away from drugs. But at 21, everything shifted. She was prescribed opioids by a doctor, someone she was also in a relationship with. When he was suddenly taken by the feds, the stability she thought she had disappeared overnight. What started as prescribed use turned into dependence, and eventually, she found herself turning to the streets. Even in the middle of that darkness, Jackie knew God was reaching for her. She prayed for Him to take the addiction away and He answered, just not in the way she expected. A drug raid led to her arrest and a three-year prison sentence.
