Shine.FM respects your privacy and is committed to protecting it. This Privacy Policy explains how the Shine.FM mobile application (the “App”) collects, uses, and safeguards information when you use the App.

1. Information We Collect

A. Location Information (Limited)

With your permission, the Shine.FM App may use your mobile device’s GPS capabilities to collect limited location information. This information is used solely to help us understand where listeners are engaging with our content.

When location permissions are enabled and you press the Play button in the app, the Shine.FM App records the following information to a secure Firebase reporting log:

• City Log The city in which your device is located at the time of listening (Example: Chicago)
• State Log The state in which your device is located at the time of listening (Example: Illinois)
• Date and Time of Log The date and time the listening event occurred (Example: January 25, 2026 at 5:32:50 PM UTC-6)
• Anonymous Unique Identifier The app generates an anonymous unique ID that is associated only with your specific app installation. This identifier helps us distinguish between unique listeners and repeated listening sessions. This ID:
  • Is not tied to your device
  • Is not tied to your identity
  • Is not connected to any personal or sensitive information
  • Changes if the app is deleted and reinstalled

This information is used exclusively for internal reporting and analytics purposes and is never sold to third parties

Though the firebase reporting system in place uses a precise GPS method to report data, the submission output to Shine.FM does not collect precise GPS coordinates

• Our reports do not collect precise GPS coordinates
• Our report do not collect street-level location
• Location data is collected only after the user grants permission
• Location is used for internal analytics, internal reporting, and is conveyed to potential sponsor partners.

This information helps us understand where our listeners are located so we can improve content and service coverage.

B. Device & App Information

We may collect basic, non-identifying technical information, such as:

• App version
• Operating system version
• Anonymous internal user identifier (used by Firebase)
  

This information is used strictly to maintain app functionality and reliability.

C. What We Do Not Collect

We DO NOT collect:

• Names
• Email addresses
• Phone numbers
• Account credentials
• Contact lists, Photos, files, or media
• Payment or financial information
• Exact GPS coordinates
• Social Security Information
• Driver’s license Information
  etc.

2. How We Use Information

Information collected through the App may be used to:

• Improve app performance and stability
• Understand general geographic listener trends
• Educate pontential sponsors on general audience listening cities/states
• Diagnose technical issues
• Support internal reporting and analytics
  

We do not use collected data for targeted advertising or behavioral profiling.

3. Data Storage & Security

• Location and app data are stored securely using Google Firebase
• Data is protected using industry-standard security measures
• Database access is restricted and authenticated
• We do not allow public access to stored data
  

We take reasonable steps to protect information from unauthorized access, alteration, or disclosure.

4. Data Sharing

We do not sell, rent, or trade your information.

Information may only be shared:

• When required by law
• To comply with legal processes
• To protect the rights, safety, or integrity of Shine.FM
  

5. User Choices & Permissions

• Location access is optional
• You may deny or revoke location permission at any time through your device settings
• The App will continue to function even if location access is disabled
  

6. Children’s Privacy

The Shine.FM App is intended for a general audience.

We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. When this application is installed and approved by the user to see location information, this app only recalls approximate city/state location information with no identifiers of the users age. If you believe any compromising information has been collected unintentionally from a child under the age of 13, please contact us so we can promptly take action to remove it and/or take further appropriate action. 

7. Third-Party Services

The App uses third-party services that may collect limited technical information in accordance with their own privacy policies, including:

• Google Firebase (analytics and data storage)

We encourage users to review the privacy policies of these services.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Updates will be posted within the App or on our website, and the “Last updated” date will be revised accordingly.
